Formosa Technology Training Center

Taiwan Government established Formosa Technology Training Center located in Tangerang Industrial Area as a Training Center, designed for 6-months Training in Manufacturing and Technology field for Indonesian High School and Vocational High School graduates. These graduates are prioritized to be assigned in several Taiwan and Indonesia companies.

Complemented with equipment and machinery valued at USD 1 Million, the Training is focused in Machinery Maintenance and Repair Technician knowledge, especially Taiwan’s machinery products, including Precision Manufacture, Dynamic Control, and Molding Printing Techniques; all presented in dual-language, Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin, with 20-25 students for each class capacity. As for now, Training for High School and Vocational High School graduates has had been carried out in several groups. On the other hand, Formosa Technology Center is also providing assistance for Indonesian workers in operating the equipment and machinery to increase competitiveness of Indonesian Industrial Human Resources.

Vocational Training Program

ICDF – Indonesia assigned performance students from Indonesia to pursue Vocational Training Program for 2 months in Taichung – Changhua – Nantou Regional Branch of the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency.

The project aimed to assist young talent in cultivating professional and technical abilities, enhancing trainees’ employment opportunities and career development.

Training program is cooperating with the Taichung – Changhua – Nantou Regional Branch of the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency, utilizing the agency’s vocational training venues and trainers, and addressing the kinds of skills needed for everyday life in Taiwan partner countries. Four classes are being offered, covering electrical and plumbing services, automotive mechanics, computer software and network applications, and wood working industries.

Through its professional and technical themes, and intensive vocational training curriculum, this two-months program will not only be helping participants to increase their basic knowledge and skills in selected disciplines: Guidance on youth entrepreneurship will also be provided throughout the training period as part of basic business management courses and a common curriculum designed to enhance the young trainees’ competitiveness in terms of employability.

In addition, after returning home the trainees are expected to become model personnel in their countries’ efforts to promote the spread of vocational training and techniques, further expanding cooperative relations between Taiwan and its worldwide partners.

Taiwan Industrial Training : Industry Academia Collaboration Program

Taiwan is developed industrial country in Asia region and is known with its innovative high technology products. Taiwan developed industrialization is also supported with world-quality education system, which according to World Economic Forum (WEF), on 2006 and 2007, Higher Education and Training in Taiwan ranked in 5th and 4th Best Globally. Taiwanese is known to be friendly and is also mentioned as The World’s 2nd Safest Country. Complement with quality lifestyle, low average living cost, and promising career opportunities, Taiwan is chosen to be The World’s Most Convenient Country for Foreign Workforces & Expatriates. Indonesia and Taiwan has had a close relationship, currently, there are 27 thousands of Indonesian people started household in Taiwan, and more than 300 thousands of Indonesian people working in Taiwan. Through Industry Academia Collaboration Program, Taiwan Center Indonesia induces students from Partner universities in Indonesia to pursue Professional Training Program – Cheng Shiu University, enriched with Industrial Internships in world class industries in Taiwan. Taiwan Industrial Training includes Training for International Business Program and Training for Food Industry Program for 1 year in Cheng Shiu University with Internship in Partner Industries in Taiwan. These Training Programs are made as one of the pre-requirement for Indonesian D-3 Diploma graduates to pursue S-2 Master Degree Program in Cheng Shiu University in accordance to MoU Agreement between Cheng Shiu University (CSU) and Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS University) .

Six Taiwan Students Join UNS Hi Java Cultural Course

Six students from UNS Partner Universities in Taiwan alongside with students from Japan and Canada joined Hi Java Cultural Course held by International Office UNS for 2 weeks in Surakarta City and closeby areas.

Hi Java Cultural Course delivered in English to provide understanding on short history, community, language, art, and culture of Jawa (Java) and Indonesia.

The program was specially prepared by combining class courses in the morning continued by field trip or field study in the afternoon. Courses material in this program is designed for international students needed basic and common information about culture of Indonesia and Java.

Result from the learning process during this course will be beneficial in many areas, including academic purposes and professional purposes. Hi Java Cultural Course was held in Surakarta and the surrounding area, where the students visited several cultural sites, thus they can learn with fun.

Taiwan Entrepreneurship Camp

A total of 15 students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS University) would be put into internships through Entrepreneurship Students Movement partnered with international scale Taiwan Industries. This activity is organized by Taiwan Center collaborating under UNS Global Challenge Progran funding supervised by International Office UNS University.

All 15 students to have internship in Taiwan are selected from 100 participants in Student Life Skill Training – Independence and Entrepreneurial Scope held in UNS University.

Taiwan Entrepreneurship Camp offers participants a unique Taiwan adventure featuring culture and study programs, in collaboration with National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan.

Taiwan has the cultural diversity and Tainan is the cultural capital of Taiwan. The programs not only exercise the experience of starting and managing a business in Taiwan, but also cultivate the mindset and action of creativity and entrepreneurship. During the activities, participants are drilled into deep thinking and inspiration for creativity immerse with culture and technology.

At the same time, visiting the famous enterprises and interacting with Taiwan’s entrepreneurs and educators as dialogue to accomplish entrepreneurship, participants will get the clear profile of the ecosystems of culture and entrepreneurship in Taiwan. Moreover, there are excursions for exploring the lovely Taiwan during the camp.

Taiwan S1 Bachelor Degree Program Preparative Course: Matriculation

Matriculation is a program to commensurate student’s knowledge and to introduce campus and college life usually prepared for special recruit students.

On 2018, Matriculation Courses were prepared for S1 Bachelor Degree Industry-Academia Collaboration Taiwan Scholarship grantees who were selected by Taiwan Center Universitas Sebelas Maret.

The purpose for this Matriculation Course itself is to commensurate the various competencies of the students who were coming from various school, specifically students from suburbs region; it also introduced their campus further, and also strengthen the students bonds.

Result from Matriculation Course is the students readiness to commence their study in Taiwan, so that they could finish their S1 Bachelor Degree Program in Taiwan on time and with provisioned results.

Emphasized course materials besides Mandarin and English, were including Leadership, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Matriculation Course prepared the prospective students the basic knowledge on their selected major, Taiwan college life, and so that their bond became stronger relative to students from other countries, thus becoming model for other students selected through other selection process.

Taiwan Established Agribusiness Development Center in IPB University, Bogor

Taiwan IPB Agribusiness Center

Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agricultural University – IPB University) in collaboration with Taiwan ICDF (International Cooperation and Development Fund) inaugurated Agribusiness Development Center (Pusat Pengembangan Agribisnis) in Cikarawang Village, Bogor, West Java, as a way to improve the quality of Indonesian farmers’ resources in order to penetrate local and international markets.

IPB University’s Agribusiness Development Center was established on 10 hectares land owned by IPB University, about one third of it is used for general facilities including Office, parking lot, cafeteria, and other buildings; and the rest is used for agricultural land. Facilities and experts were provided by IPB University with assistance from Taiwan Technical Mission. Taiwan provided funding about USD 300.000 for physical construction and development.

The cooperation is intended to synergize research, education, and marketing in developing modern agricultural system.
IPB University Agriculture Union is expected to be Integrated Agricultural System Development Model in Indonesia. Considering Indonesia has huge potential fruit and vegetable products exports to United States and European countries.

Currently, IPB University Agricultural Union is already formed, with 100 Farmer members supplying fruit and vegetable for 43 supermarkets around Jabodetabek (Jakarta and the surrounding Bogor Depok Tangerang Bekasi).

Taiwan Center Held International Job Fair in UNS

Taiwan Job Fair UNS

Taiwan Center Indonesia held the first ever International Job Fair with three Taiwan based companies in the Faculty of Law, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FH UNS) Auditorium Hall, Wednesday (23/10/2019). The three companies were ACTi Corporation, HCP Pump Manufacture, and PEGATRON Corp.

This job fair titled “UNS-Taiwan Job Fair” was held as collaboration from Career Development Center (CDC) and International Office (IO) UNS with Taiwan Center, TETO Taiwan Trade Office in Jakarta and Ministry of Economy Fair Taiwan.

Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus in his opening speech mentioned that the job fair is intended to open the opportunities for UNS alumni to work in multinational and international companies. Furthermore, the job fair is also UNS’s effort toward World Class University, in which one of the rated criteria is total number of UNS alumni working in multinational companies.

Taiwan Technical Mission 42nd Anniversary

Taiwan Technical Mission 42nd Anniversary : Taiwan Project for Indonesian Community Empowerment

Since 1976, Taiwan government has continuously assigned Agricultural Technical Teams to Indonesia. This is part of the agricultural cooperation between Indonesia and Taiwan, which is improving every year.

Head of Taiwan Government Representative in Indonesia (TETO) Amb. John C Chen said, since the Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) Agricultural Engineers was assigned to Indonesia 42 years ago, various cooperation programs have been carried out. The cooperation includes Cultivation System Improvement for mushrooms, asparagus, oranges, and livestock; Horticultural crop production techniques, aquaculture techniques, irrigation systems, food processing, soil and water conservation, and agribusiness management.

Meanwhile, there are currently 18 collaborative projects, including the Bali One Village One Product (OVOP) Project, Bogor Agribusiness Project, Corporate Agriculture Improvement and Development for Bandung Area, Superior Variety Rice Development in South Sulawesi and Agricultural Pilot Area Cooperation in Karawang Area.

The Taiwan Technical Mission has also conducted more than 130 training and field trips, in which more than 20,000 people have benefited. Taiwan, John said, will continue to share techniques and experiences in agricultural management or marketing, to help increase income and agricultural output, and to improve community’s lives.

Taiwan Built Rice Seed Breeding Center Valued at IDR 15 Billion in UNHAS

Taiwan ICDF International Cooperation and Development Fund established High Quality Rice Seed Breeding Center in UNHAS University is Makassar, which features store house, grinding house, and Greenhouse prototype as part of the project.

Greenhouse Prototype in this High Quality Rice Seed Breeding Development Project in UNHAS had finished construction and inaugurated. Inauguration was carried out by Ribbon-cutting Ceremony by Amb. John C Chen as the Head of Taiwan Representatives Office in Indonesia (TETO) and Dr. Hsiang Tie Yie as the Secretary General of ICDF Taiwan accompanied by UNHAS University Rector, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA. The Ceremony was held in Teaching Farm of Agriculture Faculty of UNHAS University.

UNHAS University Rector in her welcoming speech, conveyed that Greenhouse establishment added to enthusiasm and inspiration to UNHAS University Research teams. This cooperation implementations will be beneficial for many parts, from farmers productivity to increasing numbers of governmental exports.

TETO Head, Amb. John C Chen in his welcoming speech mentioned that thus Grant Project had entered its second year since it was inaugurated in 2018. He also mentioned that this Grant Project and Taiwan would provide funding of more than USD 1 Million (15 Billion Rupiah) for this Seed Project in UNHAS University. This Grant is expected to strengthen UNHAS University achievements as the only university outside Java island ranked in Top 10 National Best Universities.

While ICDF Taiwan Secretary General Dr. Hsiang Tie Yie pointed that the Seed Breeding Center implemented Taiwan cooperation to Indonesian Agricultural Human Resources. Taiwan has had 43 years of experience in cooperative projects in Indonesian Human Resources Development, specifically in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Fisheries.
